July Business Showcase | Aroma Accessories

I interviewed Emily Wingard, aged 33 from Sturgis, MI, USA. Emily owns Aroma Accessories.

Emily made this brief statement to describe her business:
“I offer a unique line of essential oil diffuser products, jewelry, key chains, car diffusers and such.”

Here is my interview with Emily…

When did you start your business?
Just in the last 2 months!

What made you decide to setup your business?
Well I’m stay at home mom, which I love, but I also love to create things, and washing dishes wasn’t cutting it! So I wanted to come up with something as a creative outlet. I love essential oils so this seemed pretty natural.

What do you do and what products do you sell?
I hand bead essential oil diffusers. So far I offer jewelry, Keychains, and car diffusers. I hope to add to my line in the future.

What products seem to be your best sellers?
I’d say my car diffusers and key chains are my best sellers so far.

Who are your biggest competitors?
Hmm, not sure…but probably companies that sell a more “made in china” product cheaply

How do you advertise your business?
I mostly use social media for advertising as of now. Facebook, Instagram, Google +. Also some local advertising.

How would you recommend your business to potential customers?
If you love your oils and your looking for a quality item to diffuse them that’s also beautiful and useful I’m your girl. Each piece is hand made by me and carefully made to be unique and useful.

Did you have any problems when starting your business? If so, how did you overcome them?
I haven’t really had any problems yet. I’m still looking for a good source for my supplies, that’s a reasonable price and has quick shipping but, Like I said it’s only been two months and I’m really thankful for how well its gone up to now. I’ve got some potential “bigger opportunities” in the works that I’m excited about.

Do you recruit? If so, what are the benefits?
No, I don’t recruit.

How do you decide on your designs?
We’ll I try to be creative and find what makes people happy. But mostly I go with what seems beautiful to me at the time.

What has been your favourite piece to work on?
My favorite piece so far has been a necklace earring set that used some antique rose bone beads. I loved the fact that there was history in those beads!

Are there any offers on your products running at the moment?
If you follow me on Instagram use coupon code INSTAGRAM10 for a 10% discount.

(Please be aware that to use the code you MUST be following Aroma Accessories on Instagram. The link will be listed below.)

What has the experience of owning a business been like for you?
It’s been wonderful so far. I love getting to be my own boss and set my own hours. Most of all I love the freedom it gives me to raise my children and still have an income.

Where do you see your business in the future? What dreams do you have for your business?
I hope to have an established business that regularly brings in money that my two children could be apart of as they grow up. They already want to help me but at 5 and 2 it’s not quite helping.
