Product Review | DBPOWER Action Camera

I was so looking forward to receiving the DBPOWER Action Camera and I can tell you that I am really impressed. I’ve never owned an action camera before and wasn’t sure what to expect. There are maybe one or two minor things that I might change about this camera but on a whole, it is great. It comes in a long box with a colourful, sporty design.

The bundle includes:

  • 1x DBPOWER Action Camera
  • 2x Rechargeable Batteries
  • 1x Waterproof Case
  • 1x Waterproof Case Clip
  • 1x Multi-Function Clip
  • 1x Bicycle Mount
  • 1x Camera Clip
  • 1 x Helmet Mount
  • 3x Belts
  • 1x Wiper
  • 2x 3M Stickers
  • 1x USB Cable
  • 1x User Manual

This camera comes in two different colours; black and silver. For the silver, there are two options. A normal HD action camera and then the camera with Wi-Fi compatibility. There is also the Wi-Fi compatibility on the black too. For this review, I only have the none Wi-Fi compatible silver camera.

The camera comes already inside the waterproof case with one of the lithium-ion batteries already inserted. It is pretty easy to remove the waterproof case. Head over to my YouTube channel to see how to do it. The camera is roughly 2.5 inches wide, 1.5 inches high and 1 inch deep. It has a 1.5 inch HD LCD display. In my personal opinion, I would have preferred a larger screen as the pictures you take can be difficult to see on this smaller screen. If you are on the go but need to delete some pictures or video from your memory card, it would be hard to see if they turned out as you hoped they would without viewing them on a computer.

It has a 12-megapixel camera with a 170-degree wide-angle lens. This gives you a wider field of view and allows you to get more of your surroundings into the image at once and it also hs a 4x zoom. The camera connects to a computer using a normal USB cable. You have to choose whether to use mass storage or PC camera when connecting. Mass storage allows you to view the files that are on your camera in your computer file browser.

You can use Micro SD cards up to 32Gb. At the moment, I only have my old 1Gb card available but already the images and video aren’t taking up a lot of space. Although the HD picture size is 1920×1080, you can increase the size up to 2048×1536 as well as decreasing if that is what you want to do. I have mine set at the HD 1920X1080. You have a number of options in the settings. There is an anti-shake function. Even though things like this will never be perfect, it does do it’s job well and I am impressed. There are 3 video recording formats; 1080P, 720P and WVGA.

The battery compartment is on the base of the camera and the Micro SD card slot is on the left side, along with the USB charging port. On the right side, you will find the zoom buttons and the function button is on the top. The power on button is on the front of the camera. The power button also cycles through the options; video mode, camera mode and settings.

So far, I have yet to use this camera with the accessories (for example; underwater and on a bike). You can use this as a dashcam too, but you will need to get the car charger and suction connection separately as you don’t get those in the bundle. I think this would be a good addition to the bundle.

The pictures I have taken have been pretty good quality and even in medium lighting haven’t seemed so bad either. I’m really looking forward to getting more use out of this. It is a good little action camera.

The DBPOWER Waterproof Action Sports Camera is currently only on sale at Amazon UK from third p.arty sellers. You get a 12-month warranty when you buy the camera.

* I received the product at a discounted price in return for my honest review. The opinions are entirely my own and not influenced by the manufacturer or anyone else. *

I’d love to hear your opinions. Feel free to get in touch.

Best Wishes
