Product Review | Aukey Bluetooth Wireless Earpiece (EP-B19)

This Aukey wireless Bluetooth earpiece was packaged in a simple recycled brown cardboard box with a sleeve detailing the brand logo and product.

Whats included in the box:

  • 1 Aukey EP-B9 Wireless Bluetooth Earpiece
  • 1 USB charging cable
  • 2 silicon ear buds
  • Instruction manual and warranty card.

The earpiece is a completely black design. The USB charging port you will find located on one edge of the earpiece. The USB charging cable is a micro-USB phone charger connection. This helps with if the USB cable provided gets damaged or lost, it can be easily replaced. On the opposite edge, you will find the volume up and volume down buttons along with a small LED light. On the bottom edge is the microphone. On the front, there is a power button. This has the Aukey name on it.

When powering the earpiece on and off, pairing and connected with your Bluetooth device and when the battery is low, there are beeps to tell you when it is on/off/low battery.

The earpiece connects to your mobile device through Bluetooth and is easily paired to your device. The instruction manual tells you exactly how to do it.  You must have Bluetooth enabled on your mobile device and ready to pair. Hold the power button, until the LED flashes red and blue (It lights up solely blue first, just continue to hold the button until it flashes.) The earphones will prepare to pair. Select the device for the Bluetooth pairing list, which should show up as ‘EP-B19‘.

In terms of the battery, I think this could be better. For a full 2 hour charge, you can get up to 4 hours of battery life for listening to music/talking. This roughly works out as up to 80 hours on standby. A small LED lights up red when the earphones are charging.

What is more important with a pair of earphones than the sound quality. Seeing as this is a bluetooth earpiece, you kind of get what you expect. It has an acceptable sound for phone calls but it’s not great for listening to music. If the earpiece isn’t fitted in your ear correctly, the sound comes out tinny.

imageAll in all, for people on a budget, it’s a good earpiece. It would be acceptable for using for taking phone calls. It’s not great for listening to music, but it’s not what it is made for. It is pretty lightweight but the ear hook looks as though it could be a bit flimsy. However, even though it seems flimsy and as though it could break easily, the hook doesn’t have much flexibility in order to fit your ear. Also, the ear buds only come in the one size, which are too big for my ear too.

The Aukey wireless Bluetooth earpiece is currently on sale at Amazon UK for £10.99. You get a 24 Month Manufacturer Warranty when you purchase the earphones. This is noted in the manual along with the warranty card.
