Product Review | Aukey Mini Quadcopter

drones

Drones and quadcopters have been a big thing in these last few years so when I was given the opportunity to review the Mini Quadcopter Drone from Aukey, I had to test it out. This Aukey mini quadcopter drone was packaged in a simple recycled brown cardboard box.

dsc_0010Whats included in the box:

  • 1 Aukey Mini Quadcopter Drone
  • 1 USB charging cable
  • 1 Remote control
  • 4 Replacement Blades
  • Instruction manual and warranty card.

The quadcopter is quite small and fits in the palm of your hand and weighs next to nothing; a couple of ounce at the most. It is black with grey and green blades and green text. On one side you will find the power switch and the USB charging port. Each leg of the quadcopter features a small LED light; 2 red and 2 blue. The blue lights indicate the front and the red lights indicate the rear.

The USB charging cable is yellow and the connector to the USB charger (not the connector for the quadcopter) lights up red whilst the quadcopter is charging. When the red light turns off, the quadcopter is charged. A full charge takes roughly 20-30 minutes and lasts only a short 5-10 minutes, which is due to the fact that the quadcopter is only small. When the charge is running out, all lights on the quadcopter flash.

The small remote control is also black with green and features 2 joysticks, 2 directional buttons (horizontal and vertical), a small LED light power indicator, the power switch and the battery compartment. The battery compartment is on the rear of the control and requires 2 AAA batteries.

With this quadcopter you can perform a variety of flips; front, back and side flips; with just a few, simple maneuvers on the remote control.

dsc_0018For such a small piece of equipment, it does seem to have pretty good power to it which you can feel from the air when it hovers over you.
It took my fiance a couple of minutes to learn how to control the quadcopter so this shows that it would be good for beginners. I was surprised at how short of a time it took as we had never had something like this before.

My fiance and I have enjoyed using the mini quadcopter. Apart from the short battery life, which is obviously explainable, I think that the quadcopter is a really good piece of technology for learning to fly drones and practising flips. It is great for beginners.

The Aukey mini quadcopter drone is currently on sale at Amazon UK for £23.99. You get a 24 Month Manufacturer Warranty when you purchase. This is noted in the manual along with the warranty card.
