I recently followed a new to me blog, Fangirl With Flair, a lifestyle blog with WWE and books thrown into the mix. Jessica recently did a YouTube video for the 90’s Tag which I thought was great so I wanted to take part in the tag. I do have a YouTube channel but I don’t really post there at the moment so I have bought the tag to my blog as a written version.
I was born in the late 1980’s so I definitely grew up as a 90’s kid.
This tag contains 20 questions. If you’re a 90’s kid, it would be awesome to see your answers too so leave your links in the comments to your posts of YouTube videos for me to check them out.
Favourite TV Show
Who didn’t love The Fresh Prince in the 90s? Other than that, I loved Saved By The Bell too.
Favourite 90’s song
I hope I’m not the only one that loves Mmmbop!
Just for the reason of me and my sister singing the song every time it came on, and probably even still singing it now if I mention it to her, the Melanie’s Mall advert.
NSYNC or Backstreet Boys
I wasn’t too fussed either way with NSYNC and Backstreet Boys but if I had to pick then it would be Backstreet Boys.
Favourite Music Artist
I had a few favourites back in the 90’s, but the two main ones were Steps an a1.
Did you collect anything back then and what did you collect?
I partly still do. I collected stamps from the time I was 7 years old, so from roughly 1994 but I also collected keyrings. I still also collect thimbles which I’ve had since the 90’s too.
How many Tamagotchi’s did you go through?
I got through so many Tamagotchi’s its unbelievable! I had ones with just one pet and some with a range of 31. I hated not being allowed to take them into school as they had banned them so I had to leave them with my mom who took care of them for me. I think my brother and sister were a little too young then; they were born in 1992 and 1994.
Favourite Video Game & Console?
I loved my Sega Megadrive back in the 90’s. Even though it was the only console I had back then (I did play others thanks to my cousins) I wouldn’t have changed a thing. As for game, it’s a bit of a hard choice between Altered Beast, Sonic The Hedgehog, Mickey’s Castle Of Illusion and The Lion King.
Favourite Cereal/Cereal Free Toy
My favourite cereal was (and still is) Coco Pops. I think it’s such a shame that the little hidden toys aren’t put in the cereal boxes anymore. Kids growing up these days will never know the joys of opening a brand new box of cereal and digging in just to find the toy. I remember the Simpsons water squirting rings and the Frosties water games.
Who was your 90’s Crush Growing Up?
Titanic era Leonardo DiCaprio. I had his poster on my wall and tried my hand at drawing him at one point. It didn’t go well.
What was your favourite Disney Channel movie?
I didn’t really start watching any Disney Channel movies until the 2000s to be honest so I can’t really answer this one.
Favourite Show? (Disney, Nick or Cartoon Network)
I don’t think I can pick a Cartoon Network favourite between Dexter’s Laboratory, Johnny Bravo, Cow and Chicken, I Am Weasel, Scooby Doo or The Powerpuff Girls.
Weirdest Fashion Trend
Apart from tying my jumper around my waist I had some neon yellow and neon pink Minnie Mouse lycra shorts as well as some black ones for PE class in school. I also at one point used butterfly clips in my hair and trying my hand at a zig zag parting.
What were your favourite toys would you play with?
It was rare that I had Barbies; I mostly had Sindys. My favourite Sindy was one that my grandparents got me for my 7th birthday. It was the Crimp and Bead Sindy. She had hair which was liked dreadlocks and came with beads, a crimper and a curler. I loved crimping the hair, adding beads and even braiding it. She eventually lost her legs, literally, and I’m pretty sure I still had it stashed away somewhere when Mr J first came to my house 12 years ago. Oh my gosh, and Polly Pockets! I had a few Polly Pockets and had my favourite one as a birthday gift from my auntie and uncle.
Disney, Nickelodeon or Cartoon Network?
I liked shows from each of the channels but I think Cartoon Network was always my favourite.
What early morning/Weekend TV Shows would you watch?
Every Saturday I had to watch SMTV Live and CD:UK. WONKY DONKEY!!!
Favourite McDonald’s Happy Meal Toy
I remember having some of the 101 Dalmatians from Happy Meals that I loved. I can’t really remember everything I had though, unfortunately.
I think I’d have to pick out The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. I think I read my copy to death!
What would you watch when you got home from school?
Every day, without fail, I watched the whole CITV segment. There were a variety of cartoons and kids programmes such as My Parents Are Aliens, Animaniacs, Where’s Wally, Wizadora, ReBoot and ZZZap!
What was your favourite thing from the 90’s thats no longer available today?
I know they’re older than the 90’s anyway but I used to love them in the 90s and early 2000s. Burtons Potato Puffs. They were 10p a pack in the local shop and I used to have them all the time. Even when I went to high school in 1999, my cousin and I used to pick up a few packs on our walk to school. I have not seen them around for years!
Don’t forget to leave me the links to your posts and videos in the comments. I’d really love to see them.
